Kokatanur is a village comprising seven hamlets, about 18 km east of Athani. Yellamma is the Shakti deity of the village. The Kalmeshwar Temple is about 11th-century in origin and is a beautiful Trikootachala-style structure. Two or three stone inscriptions are found here and Jakkannachari is believed to have been its sculptor.
