Halasi is a town in Khanapur taluk, about 14 km from Khanapur and approximately 25 km from Kittur. It was a centre of the early Kadamba dynasty (around 500 AD) and a small capital of the Goa Kadambas (980–1025). The town is known for medieval temples, particularly the Varaha Narasimha, Suvarneshwara and Rameshwara temples. Ramateertha, a pilgrimage site, is located about 1.9 km uphill to the south-west of the town.
