Khilegaon is about 38 km from Athani taluk headquarters and is world-famous for the Sri Basavanna Temple. According to local belief recorded in the source, an Adil Shahi ruler of Bijapur lost his eyesight while testing Basavanna, repented and constructed the temple, after which his eyesight was restored. The idol is believed to be self-manifested. Thousands of tourists visit every day.
