The dam constructed across the Malaprabha River in 1974 is described in the source as Karnataka’s smallest dam. It has a height of 155 metres and a length of 41 metres and has four gates for regulating water flow. Naviluteertha is particularly associated with peacocks, from which the village is said to derive its name. The serene waters and scenic surroundings provide a suitable setting for weekend picnics and family outings.
