Killathoragal
Located about 100 km from the district headquarters and 10 km from the taluk headquarters on the bank of the Malaprabha River, the place is also known as Khanjunipet. The seven-ring fort is believed to have been built in the 12th century by King Bhutankusha. The Bhutanatha, Shiva, Durga and Ganapati temples associated with the site follow Vijayanagara architectural traditions. The place belonged to the Kolhapur princely state and also contains Gachchina Matha, Mahateshwara Matha and several mosques.
