Kapileshwar Temple is considered one of the oldest temples in Belagavi and is known as the “Dakshina Kashi”. It is believed that a pilgrimage to the twelve Jyotirlingas of India is incomplete without visiting Kapileshwar. The temple is especially visited during Shravan month and on Mahashivaratri. The Jyotirlinga here is believed to be self-manifested. The temple premises also contain temples dedicated to Ganesha, Hanuman, Datta and Sai Baba, as well as a Navagraha temple.
